I want to express my opposition to both the SOPA and PIPA acts currently under debate in the House and Senate.

I believe strongly that the United States must strive to be leaders in technology and set an example to all nations by showing that the free exchange of information is more important than ever. We must not hinder that cause by enacting legislature without a thoughtful understanding of the problems it aims to fix and the problems it might inadvertently create.

I believe even more strongly in due diligence in enforcing laws and the spirit that is America: "innocent until proven guilty." The potential erosion of these principles by SOPA and PIPA is unacceptable to me.

I hope you will oppose these bills and seek a more effective solution to piracy. One that is in line with the values of our country.
